Matthew McElligott is a partner at Valiente, Carollo & McElligott, PLLC and focuses his practice on Civil Litigation. Matthew began his legal career at the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office where he gained experience defending the spectrum of criminal offenses from minor misdemeanors, criminal traffic violations, and DUI’s to serious offenses including drug trafficking, sexual battery, and homicide. Matthew also has extensive experience in litigating Fourth Amendment Search and Seizure law and forensic litigation issues including fingerprints, DNA, toxicology, accident reconstruction, and pathology (Medical Examiners).

With an illustrious tenure of over six years at the Public Defender’s Office, Matthew garnered valuable experience serving the residents of Miami-Dade County. He then transitioned to private practice, where he worked with a prominent insurance defense firm specializing in catastrophic injury claims and high level civil litigation. This venture provided Matthew with extensive insight into cases involving auto negligence, premises liability, slip and falls, wrongful death, products liability, and negligent security. The knowledge he acquired while defending insurance companies and major corporations in these cases now serves him in achieving maximum recovery for his clients.
